Rick Forzese began his professional
music career in junior high school, performing in various groups and in genres
ranging from rock to jazz. At Berklee College of Music, he studied with Gary
Chaffee and Tommy Campbell and performed in hundreds of concerts and studio
sessions over the course of his undergraduate tenure. He has since played and
recorded with many high-profile artists such as Warren Hill, Brother's Hip, Joe
Sample, Pattie Labelle, Billy Sheehan, and Boney James, and spent many years on
the road with artists as diverse as Paul Anka and Jai Cie. On tour with Johnny
A, Rick had the pleasure of opening for Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, Greg
Allman, George Thorogood, and B.B. King. Rick has over 20 years teaching
experience as a private instructor, working with hundreds of students on topics
ranging from rudiments of percussion and basic coordination to advanced
stylistic development. He published an instruction book specifically for
beginning students, "Building a Drumset Vocabulary." Rick's
performing and teaching range includes jazz, rock, R&B, funk, latin, and
blues styles. He enjoys challenging himself as a musician and as an instructor
by working with longtime colleagues and students as well as establishing new
