Opening for Johnny A. is the incomparable Erin Bode. The Erin Bode Group creates music forged from the Americana of its members' midwestern roots, infused with jazz grooves and made magic by Bode's bell-like voice. Sophisticated arrangements and attention to phrasing, both vocal and instrumental, further distinguish the band's fresh sound. Their most recent release, Photograph, was released in November 2010.

The Bands!

The Soul Band

The Soul Band is a powerhouse ensemble made up of some of the Boston area'smost well known musicians. The band has been together for just over a yearbut has been creating quite a buzz in and around the New England musicscene. Drawing inspiration from legends like Wilson Pickett, Otis Reddingand James Brown, The Soul Band puts a new face on a vintage sound and brings it screaming into the 21st century.

Their debut CD entitled "The Soul Band - Certified" is due out on April 1st
and has already been gaining high praises from the music press. Get on up Get on out, and see what all the fuss is about!

The Family Jewels

Musical bliss-makers the Family Jewels polish nuggets of old-time rhythm & blues, making timeless party gems gleam again. Expertly led by Asa Brebner on guitar and Andrew Mazzone on bass, the Boston-based Jewels put rollicking new life into long lost hits like the G-Cleffs "Ka-Ding Dong" and classics like Louis Jordan's double-entendre swinger "That Chick's Too Young to Fry" on their debut Saturday Night. Download and listen to these tunes from this site! The line-up of great players also includes Lead vocalist Freddie G, Steve Sadler on Lap Steel and Kevin Shurtleff on Drums, but the accent's on winning five-part vocal harmonies that use the rhythmic style of doo-wop to drive audiences wild.

"These songs were originally considered 'race' records before Elvis
legitimized black music for a white audience, so a lot of people haven't
heard these tunes," says Brebner, "This is the original underground music."

B
lind Lemon Aid event for Friend's of the Boston Homeless raises over $8,000!

On January 30, 2005 Blind Lemon Aid’s first large scale event was a huge success and great time for everyone! The event featured a very special reunion of the Radio Kings kicked up a notch with a full horn section! The consisted of original Radio Kings founder vocalist Brian Templeton and guitarist Mike Dinallo along with Ed Spargo bass, Forrest “Frosty” Padgett on drums, Steve Sadler on lap steel guitar and Bruce Bears on keys. And as if this wasn’t enough, how about adding a 5 piece horn section consisting of Scott Aruda on trumpet, John Aruda on tenor sax, “Sax” Gordon Beadle on tenor sax, Ryan Tivey on baritone sax and Jim Messbaur on trombone! But wait…there’s more! Adding the sound of this incredible band was the beautiful background vocals of Anita Suhanin and Vykki Vox.

The show opened with sets from Anita, with her band Shwang, Vykki with her band and new friend Jennifer Matthews who brought along Boston rock legend Sal Baglio of the Stompers to play with her. The BLA staff and volunteers were a well-oiled machine and we were able to raise over $8,000 for the Friend’s of the Boston Homeless!! The BLA was recognized for their efforts by Boston’s Mayor Manino with a citation presented during a Friend's of the Boston Homeless fundraiser.
